I use this product while sitting in my reclining chair. I have found the lappad to work as advertised. It eliminates about half the heat from my laptop, turning an uncomfortable experience into on in which I fell some heat, but it generally doesn't bother me. The lappad fits my MacBook very well. Despite its being flexible, I have no difficulty at all with it. It isn't floppy. Neither does my laptop slide around on the lappad. I have both the T550 and the G800 (made by the same people.) I tend to use the T550 except on very hot days. The G800 seems to insulate 90 percent, while the T550 seems to eliminate about half the heat I otherwise get from my MacBook. Unlike other laptop platforms I've tried, I do not find this one awkward to use. If I could only afford to buy one of these two pads, it would be the T550. It eliminates enough heat to satisfy me, and costs much less than the G800. My suggestion is to buy the T550 first, see if you like it, and then, if you want to reduce the heat to nearly zero, get the G800 and keep the T550 for travel.
Reduces 30-40% of heat only
Product works only to an extent; it does reduce the heat from the laptop but not entirely, only about 30-40% of the heat normally experienced. You will still experience a warm feeling on your lap from the heat. Don't expect this product to eliminate the heat entirely, as other have stated.
protects legs, but overheats even more
after using it, i found that it does protect the legs quite well and it only stays mildly warm. the biggest disappointment is that it seems to heat up the laptop even more, i touched the bottom of my laptop while using it, and it was so much hotter than it used to be when i didn't use the lappad. the website for this product clasim that this chinook model even "cools" the laptop to a certain extent, but i really don't see this happening when i use it
Can't Live Without It...
I use my laptop at home a lot and after about 15 minutes it gets uncomfortably hot. I tried putting a pillow under it, but that blocked the laptop fans, so I was stuck sitting at the table (which kind of kills the idea of having a laptop in the first place). A friend has one of the LapLogic products and loves it, so I decided to give it a try. I liked the idea of being able to roll it up so I can take it with me when I travel, so I opted on this model instead of the Taku, which has a hard, flat surface. Quite frankly, it works better than I had hoped! My legs stay cool, and I'm able to work on the sofa for hours without feeling the heat! Honestly, I don't know how I lived without one. The service was great, and the product is flawless - I'm seriously considering buying one of the Taku models given how well this one has worked. 5 stars all-around.
Love it!
I bought one for myself, and ended up buying a second one for my wife, as she kept taking mine. I use mine for flying, and it's been great. Note that the product is made to keep the user cool, not the laptop, unlike other reviewers have mentioned. My laptop doesn't get any hotter than normal, but my legs sure do stay cooler! We now own 3 of their products and love them.
